A ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) can help prevent electrocution. That is, if a person's body starts to receive a shock, the GFCI senses this and cuts off the power before he/she can get injured.
GFCIs are generally installed where electrical circuits may accidentally come into contact with water. So to put it simply, it can be the thin line between life and death!
Climate Partners is a licensed, certified, and local HVAC and electrical services provider. Our team of certified technicians is capable of handling any electrical problems including GFI/GFCI switches.

There are three types of GFCI that are commonly used:
Climate Partners has trained electricians who can install and service all kinds of GFCI switches.
Electrical Troubleshooting: Tripping GFCI
Many aspects and actions can be the cause of GFCI tripping. Such as:
Sometimes tripping occurs when a GFCI circuit breaker is protecting multiple downstream receptacles. If several appliances are connected to the GFCI device, the cumulative effect of the appliance leakage currents may trip the GFCI.
Capacitive leakages due to the wire length of the circuitry may exceed the threshold of the GFCI which can ultimately lead to GFCI trips.
Sometimes tripping occurs when GFCI receptacles and related circuitry are not installed correctly.
If nuisance tripping is occurring in areas near dishwashing, mop sink, janitorial, ice machines, showers, walk-in coolers, exterior locations, roofs, and other areas with a lot of condensation, then too much moisture may be the cause.
It’s possible that an appliance may be leaking too much current to the ground which can then lead to GFCI trips
GFCI devices don’t last forever, and some are defective even when new. GFCI breakers and receptacles should be replaced in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
To properly diagnose and prevent the above problems it's important that you have a trusted electrical contractor do the troubleshooting.
GFCI switches can be installed in many areas of the home and for many appliances:
